Postpartum Massage

Description
Postpartum massage can begin as early as 2 weeks after delivery, provided your healthcare provider has approved your return to massage therapy. Your baby is welcome to accompany you during your appointment and may remain in a bucket seat beside the treatment table. Massage can support your recovery by promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and encouraging time for self-care during the postpartum period. Therapeutic techniques may also help relieve muscle tension and discomfort commonly associated with caring for a newborn, feeding, and the physical demands of pregnancy and birth. For mothers who have delivered by cesarean birth, gentle abdominal massage and myofascial techniques may be incorporated after 8 weeks postpartum, once healing is well established and appropriate for your stage of recovery. These techniques can help improve tissue mobility and address discomfort around the incision area.
